A New LinkedIn Filter You Probably Did Not Know About

Imagine finding candidates on LinkedIn Recruiter who are open to a specific role and who are not currently filling that role. Sounds impossible? You cannot search their open to work preferences, right?
Actually, you can. LinkedIn has not communicated about this at all.
How to Use It
The approach works the same for both LinkedIn Recruiter Seat and Recruiter Lite.
- Open a new search.
- Go to the Job Titles filter.
- Important: you cannot use boolean for this search. Use standard LinkedIn job titles only.
- Search for the relevant titles. For example: recruiter, recruitment specialist, and similar.
- Select the "open to work" filter within the Job Titles section.
You will get a list of people who have listed one of those titles in their open to work preferences, even if they are not currently doing that job.
That is the part nobody tells you. The filter does not look at current role. It looks at what the person has flagged as their next desired role.
Another Use Case: Healthcare
Say you are looking for a care worker and you are not allowed to recruit from a competitor. You can use this method to find people who want to return to healthcare, especially if you exclude the healthcare sector from your search. The filter surfaces profiles you would never find with a standard location or keyword search.
The filter has been there quietly for a while. Use it.
